How forced stillness changed my life
My life was hectic and chaotic. I filled my moments with noise, podcasts, background television, constant busyness, conversations, music etc., none of these are bad things, but I allowed zero silence in between.
I didn’t know I was running from anything, but I hated being in my car, or in my home with nothing going in the background.
I was living in autopilot. Never present. Never experiencing the joy of a moment. Never changing and never growing.
Silence is the loudest and most confrontational thing on earth.
Like everybody else, I had pain and trauma. I thought I had dealt with it, but as it turns out, not really.
The thing about silence and stillness is, it forces us to tune in to our own radio station. This can be uncomfortable.
Our body and mind work on a primal level to keep us “safe”. It’s more comfortable in the familiar hell of disconnecting, than the unfamiliar heaven of healing. But it’s all still there, in our body, doing us harm. Whether we ignored it or not.
Suddenly, after getting sick with a rare neurological condition, where your body turns on itself and attacks the nerves. I was thrust, overnight, into a place of silence and stillness. I was essentially paralyzed, unable to walk or use my hands, I was in the hospital for 45 days.
My life became quiet. And still. And so confronting.
Everything that I used in the past to run away, was gone.
But, in the quiet, I learned to listen, sit in the discomfort, and tune into the frequency of my mind and body.
It was hard at first, but then it became something I craved. I describe it as a huge, deep, breath of fresh air, after you’ve been unable to breathe.
It’s healing and life-changing. Growth hurts but it’s the best, most amazing gift!
Once you learn how to embrace the silence and tune into your body, and mind, you’ll never want to go back to the days of drowning all of that out.
Everything changes.

FAQS
Who is this program for?
Restorative yoga is literally for everybody, from beginners to experienced practitioners, literally every human can benefit from a consistent, restorative yoga practice!
I have designed this program to celebrate all body sizes! In my classes, there will be significant cueing for larger bodies. Typically restorative yoga has been left out of the size inclusive and accessible movements in terms of how to make the practice work for larger bodies. But all bodies will find safety, comfort and rest.
What in the world is restorative yoga?
Restorative yoga is relatively new in the lineage of Yoga as a whole.
It was developed by B.K.S Iyengar, and brought to full development and popularity by Judith Hanson Lasater, who was his student.
It is a therapeutic style of yoga that highly utilizes props to get the body into certain poses that make us very comfortable and able to surrender to the pose. The pose does all of the work in restorative yoga!
You are working toward state of total relaxation where there is no movement, and an effort to quiet the mind. Each pose is practiced for anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes, depending on the pose.
What does the program include? What do I get??
Each week you will get
A full length restorative practice between 60 and 90 minutes
A meditation
A pose of the week video explaining breakdowns, optional variations, benefits, and daily challenge limit for that pose
Tools to learn how to calm your nervous system and start to bring yourself into balance, taking it off the mat
Training and knowledge that you’ll be able to take two other yoga classes, no matter what the style
What is this pose of the week? Do I have to do it? What’s the purpose?
The pose of the week is a totally optional thing that you can do each day to continue the work of balancing your nervous system!
Each pose is something that will be practiced for 15 to 20 or more minutes a day ideally! You literally cannot practice restorative too much!
The point of this six week restorative series is to help you find stillness and find rest not on your mat, but in your every day life, when we do a daily restorative practice, we make the intention to be still and quiet and go internally.
At 15 minutes or more in a true resting position, your body will literally start changing your brain waves! The deep restful brain waves make a significant impact on your body when practiced regularly!
Each video will have a thorough breakdown of the pose, different options for different places and ways you can practice this, from going to the ground to do it, a sofa, a bed or a chair! Also let you know what the benefits are and how to get your body the most comfortable you can, in addition to alternative poses you can take!
